077. Differentiating 9-12 U.S. History Using the American Yawp Textbook
Differentiation is one of the biggest struggles I face as a high school U.S. History teacher. I love having a synthesized textbook as the backbone of my course, but it is impossible to pick one text that hits the variety of language and reading level needs of all my students. However, I have been able to combine several tools to accomplish this. The first tool is the American Yawp textbook – an open-source text from a variety of contributors that encourages modification of the text. The second is the use of digital tools such as AI/LLMs, YouTube, audio hardware/software, and your LMS, to provide a “textbook” that is personalized to your students’ reading levels and primary languages.
